This week, we find Charlie working at a go-kart track with her boss, Jean (Angel Desai) and colleague Randy (Jack Alcott). Jean’s son Davis McDowell (Charles Melton) is a racing driver and we see him pull out all the stops to defeat veteran Keith Owens III (Tim Blake Nelson) for a race win.
When Keith sabotages Davis’ car the younger man suffers a serious accident at practice for the next race, but in a dramatic twist it turns out Keith’s daughter Katy (Jasmine Aiyana Garvin) is unexpectedly behind the wheel. After making a confession to his wife Donna (Leslie Silva), Keith comes clean to the nation, leaving Charlie with one more mystery to ponder.
This is the second of two first season episodes directed by Iain B. MacDonald. The episode was written by Joe Lawson, with a credit to Sarah Fischer for her contribution to the plot.
